Job Summary
The Production Operations Intern will work closely with the Production Supervisor and Production Manager, assisting with daily shop floor operations across 2-3 product lines. This role focuses on learning foundational manufacturing principles, supporting process efficiency, and helping to maintain quality and safety standards. This is a stipended, full-time internship for a duration of 4 months, requiring on-site work at our Bangalore manufacturing location.
Roles & Responsibilities
Assisting Supervisors in monitoring daily production runs and ensuring adherence to established schedules.
Tracking and documenting production metrics such as output, efficiency, and downtime for reporting.
Learning how to analyze production processes and suggesting potential areas for minor process improvements.
Supporting quality control efforts by assisting in routine checks, documentation, and reporting non-conformances.
Learning and assisting in the implementation of the 6S ideology to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Ensuring basic adherence to shop floor safety regulations and procedures.
Shadowing supervisors to learn effective task assignment and performance monitoring techniques for operators (approximately 20 people).
Facilitating clear communication between the shop floor and supporting departments like Maintenance, Stores, and Quality Control.
Assisting in the preparation of daily/weekly production reports and presenting findings to the Production Manager.
Learning and enforcing company standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the shop floor.
Supporting the Production Supervisor in initial analysis and troubleshooting of minor production issues.
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Diploma degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or equivalent) or a relevant technical/vocational program.
Strong academic record and a demonstrable interest in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly with operators and technical staff.
Willingness and ability to work in shifts (General/1st/2nd/3rd) as required by the production schedule.
Basic theoretical knowledge of production processes and equipment is a plus.
A proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and work effectively under supervision.
Must be able to travel and work onsite in Bangalore.
Ability to perform basic physical tasks as needed on the shop floor (e.g., must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 23 kgs occasionally).
