VMC Machine Operator - Bengaluru

Job Summary

The VMC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Centers to produce various components according to engineering drawings and production schedules, reporting to the Production Supervisor. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and precision of manufactured parts. This is a full-time contract-to-potential-hire position, requiring on-site work at our Bangalore manufacturing location, and may involve shift work.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Setting up VMC machines, including loading tools, fixtures, and workpieces.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and G-code programs.

  • Operating VMC machines to perform machining operations such as milling, drilling, and tapping.

  • Monitoring machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations.

  • Performing in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges).

  • Adjusting machine settings to ensure part quality and optimize performance.

  • Troubleshooting minor machine issues and performing basic preventive maintenance.

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to 5S principles.

  • Reporting any deviations, defects, or machine issues to the supervisor.

  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and company policies.

  • Documenting production activities and quality checks.

Requirements

  • ITI/Diploma in Machining, Mechanical, or a related technical field.

  • Proven experience as a VMC Machine Operator, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in setting up and operating VMC machines.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming (basic editing is a plus).

  • Familiarity with various cutting tools and their applications.

  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts.

  • Ability to troubleshoot common machining issues.

  • Understanding of safety procedures in a machine shop environment.

  • Must be willing to work in shifts (General/1st/2nd/3rd).

  • Must be able to lift components weighing up to 15 kgs.

  • Ability to travel and work onsite at any one of our partner manufacturing locations.
